Exploring mixed-reality fitness experiences
Mixed reality connects digital content with the space around a person. In fitness and wellbeing, this can create new ways to demonstrate movement, guide an activity or explore a virtual setting. The experience still needs a clear purpose, suitable instructions and a practical understanding of the environment in which people will use it.
Understand the formats and their differences
This collection explores virtual and mixed-reality movement, digital coaching and immersive practice. Some experiences use a headset; others present an avatar or guided activity on a familiar screen. Read the articles to compare these approaches and consider how presence, demonstration and interaction can support the intended activity. A visual experience does not by itself establish a health or fitness benefit.
Plan around people and physical space
Movement experiences need room, an appropriate pace and clear ways to pause or stop. Consider different abilities, comfort with headsets and the option to use a simpler format. Instructions should explain the setup before the activity begins. Content about exercise and virtual practice is general information; individual suitability and health concerns should be discussed with a qualified professional.
Connect the idea with the production brief
Define the audience, the movement to communicate and the devices available before choosing a character style or virtual world. Explore our simulation service for the environment and interaction work, or our avatar service for digital coaches. Selected projects show relevant character-production craft from Mimic Productions, the studio behind Mimic Wellbeing.
