The project
KIKI is a virtual human developed for a sign-language interpretation initiative with NHK Enterprises and NHK G-Media. Mimic Productions contributed character creation and production, with Jam3 credited as creative partner.
Character creation · Modelling · Rigging · Grooming · Clothing · Rendering
From sketch to character
The team developed the 3D character from initial sketches, shaping the model and materials around the intended personality.
Expressive movement
A bespoke rig supported intricate hand shapes and expressive movement while matching the client's existing technical libraries. Facial animation helped carry expression alongside signing.
Finishing the digital human
Detailed hair, clothing, skin textures, shading and rendering completed the character. The project brings digital-human production into an educational and accessibility context.
